MDC Firefighting Resources

 


PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to establish within METROFIRE an expeditious method of obtaining the services of the Metropolitan District Commission, Fire Control Unit.

GENERAL
The MDC Fire Control Unit"s resources and capabilities have been made available to Metrofire communities on and off MDC lands. These resources include fifteen engine/tankers modified for woods duty and a Fire Academy trained cadre of over 30 personnel.

ACTIVATION PROCEDURE

The activation of these resources may be initiated by the Chief of Department or his designee during any woods fire incident and particularly those on MDC reservations.

All requests will be made to the Metrofire Control Center who will notify MDC fire control through specially provided telephone numbers.

Requests to the Metrofire Control Center will require the following information from the requesting community:

Location of the incident
Requesting Department and a call-back number
Incident Commander's name
Nature/extent of the incident
Staging area for MDC units to report

The Firefighting Forces of the MDC shall be activated by the Control Center on request in accordance with procedure 80-3. These resources are available for woods fires on or off MDC properties. A direct line and backup pager numbers provide activation.
